ANNOUNCEMENT - STEPHEN NASH

The BFC is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Nash to the position of Junior Coaching Director, reporting to Club Coaching Director, Brian Royal

Stephen had previously been involved with the club for over 17 years and in 2019 was honoured with BFC Life Membership for services to the club.

Nashy, as he is affectionately known, has had extensive experience at AFL level having worked for the West Coast Eagles for 35 years and prior to that at Carlton and the Western Bulldogs - where Steve first met Brian.

For many years, Nashy helped recognise and nurture players in the BFC Juniors through his strong connection with the Sandringham Dragons and his profound knowledge of the game and the football industry. His years of working in the AFL recruitment system has given him an acute understanding of player relationships and player development.

The Beaumaris Football Club is indelibly stamped with Nashy’s influence through the numerous players and team coaches he has developed over the course of his time at the club.  In his role he will work closely with the Junior Coaching Coordinators, Gary Nicholls, Ben Stainforth and  Jack Dyer,  as well as the Senior coaches on building and maintaining pathways for our players at a Junior level.

Stephen’s appointment provides depth and consistency across key facets of the game from the training track to match day.

Club President Nick Heath added his thoughts, “Our Club is committed to providing an exceptional football program which offers a genuine pathway from the junior ranks to senior football.  Our core values foster strong connections among players, families and the community and create an environment in which players of all abilities can develop skills and aspire to achieve their full potential – on and off the field.  By displaying collegiality and leadership in the junior and senior football associations, we aspire to be recognised as a premier/leading community football club.

Nashy’s return to the Beaumaris Football Club is a tremendous boost for the club. His experience, leadership and knowledge at all levels of the game will be of great benefit to the club, across all age groups and player competencies in delivering our vision to the highest possible standard. He will provide a specialised approach to player development within our Junior ranks, which will give all players the chance to get the best out of themselves whilst, importantly, having fun. He is an incredible resource to have. Welcome back, Nashy.”

The Club’s integrated coaching system, arguably the envy of other Clubs, will be deeply enriched by Nashy’s return.

The Junior section coaching directors will be integrated with the Club’s Senior Coaching panel, which includes:
