Junior Member Information Page

The Beaumaris Football Club is one of the largest sporting clubs in Australia that facilitates a pathway from Under 8s through to Senior Football. Our club fields junior teams in the South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) in their mixed, boys' and girls' competitions.

Our football club community is a family friendly, all-inclusive environment, where friendships on and off the field are formed and players develop their skills with our qualified coaches and through participating in additional programs as they move through the ranks to senior football. At Beaumaris all abilities and levels are catered for.

Membership of the Beaumaris Football Club entitles members to membership of the Beaumaris Sports Club and its fabulous facilities. Parents of junior players are considered members of the BSC through until 31st March of the following year.

This page is designed to provide you with helpful information about our junior football program. If you have any questions that are not answered here, please email the Club Secretary

Teams

As one of the largest clubs in the SMJFL, Beaumaris fields teams in all age groups and competitions, from Under 8s through to Under 18s, with multiple teams in most age groups.

Our philosophy is to ensure that each player achieves maximum football development in a fun and safe environment. The development of our grading policy has been guided by this philosophy and the SMJFL Grading Guidelines and Processes.

Our team selection criteria are as follows:

All Under 8 - Under 10 age groups Team selection is based primarily on friendship groups (usually schools attended). The Club encourages players to make new friends and will endeavour to ensure an appropriate mixing of friendship groups. These teams will not be graded. Team composition may change from year to year in order to accommodate new players.
Under 11 Mixed & Under 12 Girls Team selection in this age groups is done to ensure that each team is competitive in the division they are playing. Teams are not selected based solely on a player's ability. Each team will have players with a range of abilities. However, fitness levels will be considered when determining a player's capability of competing in certain grades. The rationale is to encourage a mix of new players from year to year in preparation for the "Ability Based" grading in the under 12 mixed age group and U14 girls age group onwards.
Under 12 Mixed to Under 18 age groups Team selection in these age groups is based on a player's ability and team balance. Other attributes to be considered but not limited to will be (Attitude, Training Attendance, Coachability).

The Team Selection Policy can be read in full on the Club Policies page on our website.
