Seniors & Reserves Knock Off The 2 Undefeated Parkdale Sides
There was a big crowd at Parkdale for the Top-Of-The Table Clash between the Two Blues and the Sharks.
Neither Parkdale side had been beaten this season, and their Reserves side was on a thirty-game winning streak.
However, the two Beauy teams, with a good balance of strong, experienced leadership, combined with some talented and enthusiastic youngsters, relished the challenge and the opportunity to put down a marker on their aspirations for the season with very decisive wins in both grades.
Beauy had a big contingent of supporters at the huddle as the Senior Sharks went about increasing their ¾ time lead of 18 points into a final margin of 34 points with a score line of 7.22 to 4.6 showing that with 29 shots to 10 the win was more decisive than reflected on the scoreboard. Joel Cusack negotiated another challenge in his comeback and he kicked 3 goals while the best players included Charlie Wilce, Tomo Owens, James Taylor, Ned Bodi, Damien Johns, Jai Florent & Jhett Haeata.
The Reserves started the day off well by turning a tight first half lead of 9 points into a strong finish with some smart, running and passing football which handed Parkdale Reserves their first loss for nearly two seasons. Mitchell Kornberg kicked three majors and Noah Beveridge slotted two.
Both teams will now go into the long break looking forward with confidence to the six game run home which includes a crucial away game to AJAX as the battle for the double chance heats up.
The Senior Men’s Youth Reserves (Thirds) team recorded their second consecutive victory with a 16 goal away win over Ormond and they are certainly showing signs of major improvement under Drew Kelly after being upgraded from Div 5 to Div 3. They will return to play a week ahead of our other teams and have a game scheduled for Friday 18th July at Banksia Reserve at 7.00pm against local rivals S.B.M.T.
