Full Time Round 3

Full Time Rounds 3&4 – 27th April 2024

The Senior Men’s team ventured out to Balwyn North to play the recently promoted and unbeaten Old Camberwell team and came away with a fantastic win.

Despite being down 20 points at half time and with a very parochial crowd behind the home team, our guys fought hard to tough out a memorable away win win. With less than a minute on the clock and one point behind, Dimma Johns pulls off a great tackle to set up a kick into the middle. From the ensuing play, Captain Cal Linehan fires a booming kick towards goal which is marked on the goal line in the square by Will Skinner, who converted. The next 19 seconds were frenetic, our boys holding out OC to will by 5 points. Not just a great win, but an important win!  Best players included Riley Mihailovic, Cal Heath, Wil Skinner, Riley Virtue, Darcy James and Spencer McLennan.

The Reserves debuted a number of new players and despite holding their own in the 2nd half went down by 55 points. Our best were Cooper Eckert, Lachie Tedde and Angus Hill.

The U19 Prem team led at every change against Old Scotch, except full time. For the guys it was a disappointing 4th quarter, after playing so well for the other three. It was one of those quarters where nothing goes your way and the opposition takes full advantage. Angus Bowd continued his good form to be our best, followed by Mitchell Davidson and Aiden McCarthy.

In the other U19s game the Two’s made it 3 from 4 with a narrow 3 point win over Glen Eira/McKinnon at Packer Park in Carnegie. Seemingly, these guys love the tight battles, which is great if you’re on the right side of the ledger. Well done to Marc and his team to tough out a gutzy away win. Best players included Josh Mathews, Nathan Astill and Cooper Dickson.

The Senior Women’s team didn’t have good day, they were outplayed by a more determined St Bedes, who were switched on. Unfortunately, our girls couldn’t find their rhythm and will be determined to bounce back. Best player was fullback Pip Atkins who’s work in the last line of defence was outstanding. Taylor Tysoe and Sunday Hollingsworth also gave their all.

The result was virtually the reverse in the Women’s Reserves, our girls winning comfortably by 82 points. Great win! Best players included Amy Watkins, Lara Barker, and Meg Lambert.

Congrats to Senior team debutants Oskar Phillips, Skye Shipton and Ruby Raymond and to Katelyn Randall on playing her 100th game for the BFC.
