BFC and RSL History

In 1962 the Beauy F. C. was formed at two public meetings held at the RSL clubrooms and after the dust settled it was clear that a large majority of the inaugural officials of the young club with four new teams – Seniors, U/17’s, U/15’s & U/13’s – were Returned Servicemen; including Peter Eldred - President, Ted ‘E.J.’ King - Vice-President & U/15 Coach and ‘Major’ Frank Reade – Senior Coach.

We have always maintained a close relationship with the Beauy RSL Members & Officials and their very ambient and hospitable clubrooms hosted many BFC functions and meetings for the first two decades of the Sharks’ existence. There have been many joint Anzac Luncheons held over the years by the two clubs and we look forward to again hosting this important event on a significant Anniversary of the Club.

As a bonus it will also be the first time that all seven BFC Presidents during those 30 years in the VAFA will be gathered together in the same room. Peter Maloney, Ron Nicholson, John Collins, Ron Buller, John Murton, Terry Lucas, Nick Heath have steered the BFC from E Grade to A Grade, for 5 Senior Premierships, 4 Reserves and 4 U/19 Flags, plus the formation of the Sharks Senior Women’s Teams & their two Premierships and through the difficult COVID years.  During that same period the excellent work of the Junior section of the Club has created a program that has seen 54 Junior Premierships won in that time while the BFC is now recognised for having had more listed AFL players than any other club in the country for the past three years at least.
