Comment:

A fine back pocket from Beaumaris who broke into a strong St Kilda side after only 5 weeks in 1971.

By the finals series that year he had developed remarkably and in the 2nd Semi-Final contained Peter Crimmins and Leigh Matthews, the best roving duo in the league at the time.

Cool, calm and unobtrusive, he could nullify the best of players and could pick up tight kicks in the packs. A solid mark, he was an excellent foil to Bob Murray and then Kevin Neale.

From 1973 to 1975 he was a regular state back pocket player, but illness early in 1975 saw him struggle for poise and form. He again struggled in 1976 and because he could not devote the necessary time to training he considered total retirement.

He eventually crossed to the VFA club Mordialloc.
