Comment:

Rodney Galt was a tall, blonde ruckman-forward from Beaumaris who began his VFL career at St Kilda after being recruited from Beaumaris. Although he showed promise early in his 77 games at Moorabbin, he never settled and was traded to Carlton after the 1974 season.

Aged 24 on his arrival, he proved a handy acquisition, particularly against teams who were short in defence. Wearing guernsey number 17, he kicked exactly 100 goals in his 46 games for the Blues, with a career-best 49 in 1978 to win the Club goal-kicking award. He was delisted after the '79 season, and went on to play in South Australia and NSW before bobbing up again at VFA club Prahran.

Always something of an entrepreneur he took photos and marketed posters of "The Carlton Bluebirds." Later, he became a highly successful Gold Coast property developer
