There's been much discussion about the photo taken of the Seniors coming off the ground on Saturday and the chat that took place between Captain Matt Petering and young Henry Garside, one of the U9s players who were guests of the Seniors before and after the game against the Monash Blues.
As chance would have it, Matt was special guest presenter at last night's 'Shark of the Month' for the U8s, 9s &10s.
In a crowded Banksia Room at the BSC was Henry.
Junior's President Nicki Spencer, preempting a nice connection was able to ascertain that Henry told Matt he also worn No 3. With this in mind Nicki was able to ask all the kids at 'Shark of the Month' - "who wears No 3" and sure enough Henry jumped up. Fortunately we had the photo of the conversation coming off the field appear on the TV screen and Henry yelled out “that’s me”. Then Nicki got Henry up and he was able to recount his conversation with Matt.
It was a great moment.
For all Junior players, Shark of the Month' is a special night, and this one was made even more significant by the attendance of Seniors Captain and 3 time Club Champion Matt Petering.
Matt spoke to the whole group and presented the winners with their beanies and certificates.
Thanks to Matt for giving up his time last night and congrats to all the winners.
