Tom Dean's Career To Be Celebrated on Saturday

At the start of the season the club was hopeful that former two-time Club Champion and former Seniors Captain Tom Dean would be able to make a return from a serious foot injury, an injury that kept him out of most of the 2018 season.

However, Tom has decided that retirement is now the better option than the chance of further injury to his foot.

Tom Dean is without doubt one of the finest players to EVER wear the Blue & Gold. Coaching Director Choco Royal has said several times that Tom was at least the equal to most ALF players he has dealt with in his time as a player and coach. This Saturday we will be formally celebrating a stellar career at a Club Lunch (sold out) and post-match in the Club Rooms. (everyone welcome)

Tom’s career with the Sharks includes two Premiership Medallions, the first in 2010 & the second as Captain of the 2016 B Grade team, two Senior Best & Fairest Awards, six years as Senior Captain and 130+ Senior games. Tom also won ‘Best on Ground’ Awards with the Victorian Representative side against South Australia and was voted ‘Best on Ground’ in the 2016 Grand Final and was third in the A Grade Competition B & F in 2013.

The club looks forward to officially recognising Tom this Saturday 26th after the Seniors game.

Congratulations also to players Byron Hughes (150 games), Damien Johns (100 games) and Ryan Bennett (100 games) whose milestones will also be celebrated on Saturday.

The Seniors will be playing for the Brett Marchant Cup on Saturday, a tradition for all games against our great rivals St Bedes Mentone. That old local Derby rivalry lives long and hard in these parts!

It will be a great day with a tremendous game of football in store for everyone. Come down and cheer on our boys.

GO SHARKS!
