Following a joint submission made by Council in partnership with the Victorian Amateur Football Association, the Beaumaris Sports Club has received AFL Victoria’s Best Community Football Facility Project Award, Metro Southern Region, for 2017/18. The project was also named runner up in the state category.

After ten years of planning and fundraising, including $1.5 million in community donations, the $5 million pavilion was opened to the public in September 2018.

Banskia Reserve brings together the three biggest sports in Beaumaris, football, cricket and tennis to create a community hub for sport.

The award recognises the pavilion for providing outstanding facilities for community sports while meeting all current standards, including unisex changerooms and umpires facilities.

The pavilion has also been commended for providing a social and dining space that continues to build on the local community connectedness and provide a local venue for the families and community members to congregate, connect and have a sense of place.
