Lewis Diggins 2018 Club Champion

Congratulations to Lewis Diggins who is the 2018 'BFC Club Champion', by winning the Seniors 'B&F' recently.
Lewis also won this years 'Rising Star' Award.
It has been a sensational year for Diggo who only turned 19 on September 1, so he played all of this years B&F season as an 18 year old, which is a tremendous achievement.

However, this comes as no surprise to those who have followed Diggo's career starting as a 7 year old back in the Auskick days. Lewis played 2 years in the Under 9's before settling into his age group, which included gun players such as Hayden McLean, Josh Gorman, Kai Owens, Ed Newman, Lucas Barrett and Josh Gibbins.

That group went through the years unrewarded until they won the coveted U17's Div 1 Premiership in 2016. In that year Lewis was a stand out player.

A big turning point came in 2015 when U16s Div 1 coach Danny Kelly converted Lewis from a forward to a defender, albeit an attacking defender much in the style we see half back flankers play the modern game.

Lewis also caught the eye of Seniors Director of Football Choco Royal, who in 2017 put Lewis into the Seniors for his first taste of top level VAFA football at the age of 17. This was a huge step and Lewis took the challenge with open arms, playing a mighty debut game.

From that point Lewis has been a Seniors regular, playing every game this year. Lewis was also selected to the VAFA U19's Rep side this season.

Importantly, Lewis played all his Junior footy at the Beaumaris Football Club and despite only just turning 19, has accumulated 162 games for this CLUB (Juniors & Seniors), including 138 goals. Simply fantastic!

For those of us who have seen Lewis develop as a footballer will say that the world's his oyster when it come to playing top level footy.

Lewis has been training with the Richmond VFL side.

We can only say congratulations on your awards Diggo and all the best for your future.
