Club To Farewell Champion of the Game This Saturday

On Saturday the game will farewell one of the modern greats, Stephen Milne, at our home game against Old Haileybury.

It will be a farewell to an extraordinary career than spanned 275 games in the AFL for St Kilda. In that time Milney kicked 574 goals to make him one of the most destructive small forwards to EVER play the game. He topped St Kilda's goalkicking on 4 occasions, even with Nick Riewoldt in the side. He was an All-Australian in 2011 and 2012.

In 2014 and 2015, Milney played for Strathfieldsaye in the Bendigo Football League; in 2014, he was the League's leading goalkicker with 101 goals and also won the club's best and fairest award and was part of the club's back-to-back premierships in 2014 and 2015.

In 2016, Milney started with us and his impact was immediate. He played a pivotal role in our Seniors premiership that year and was the club's leading scorer in both 2016 (53) and 2017 (39). Saturday will be Milney's 42nd game for the Beaumaris Football Club.

Stephen was rewarded with VAFA state selection last year.

This year he has been forced to play more of a coaching role due to a recurring hamstring injury.

There is no doubt about the impact Milney has had around the Club. He has embraced the Juniors at every opportunity and encouraged their participation in pre and post match activities. His involvement in Club events has been first class.

So let's get out on Saturday and say THANK YOU AND FAREWELL TO MILNEY. A true champion of the game and the Beaumaris Football Club.
