Comment:

The brilliant speedster from by Beaumaris via Sandringham Dragons with pick 15 in the 1999 AFL draft, was promoted earlier than expected when he debuted in 2000 in Round 1 against Fremantle and he made an immediate impact despite his small frame. Geelong tried to carefully monitor his on field workload, but he showed signs of losing his edge late in his first season. In 2001 he was pitted against elite opponents as part of his development to ensure that he developed more accountability in his football. Against the likes of Robert Harvey he took in valuable lessons. After the 2001 season he injured his knee in freak circumstances when skylarking on a beach and the injury put him out of action for a year.

He was delisted by the Cats at the end of the 2004 season and nominated himself in the 2004 AFL Draft where he was picked up by the Sydney Swans for pick No. 47. He made his debut for Sydney in Round 3, 2005 against the Brisbane Lions.

Spriggs failed to make a single AFL appearance in 2006, and was subsequently delisted by the Swans at the end of that season. He joined Port Melbourne in 2007.
